Knitted jacket for Yr

This summer har been really warm, but in the beginning of the summer I believed there would be some chilly evenings where the little one could benefit from a jacket. So I bought some Geilsk hemp and wool yarn and made her a jacket.

Bredbånd (Broadband) jacket for me

Second time around.
This time it fits.
I needed to increse the distance from the red "belt" to the arm pits with a few stripes to avoid the "belt" hanging to high.
I love this jacket, and has already used it a lot.
So happy to find some decent buttons.

Geilsk Thin wool, Geilsk recipe"Broadband"

Not at all difficult to knit.
Some interesting techniques.

Jomfruhummer

This fall Stavanger Strikk and Drikk arranged for Bente Geil to come to Stavanger and hold 3 workshops for us. All workshops went great and we all learned new techniques and got inspired.
This jacket is knitted in Geilsk wool and hemp. The Pattern is called "Jomfruhummer"- weird name but lovely jacket. My challenge was- after knitting it- finding nice and cool buttons. Found it finally.

Knitted jacket for YR

Cotton jacket for little Yr.
After knitting a dress to Yr in lighter shade of purple, I decided to knit a darker jacket with the same pattern, form the same book. "Babystrik på pinde 3"- model Bella.

Easy and fun project.

Jacket in leftover yarn

After knitting the Seyfarth Folklore jacket and the Flower power, I had a serious amount of good quality thin wool in many colours. Too good not to be used, to colourful to be easy to find a good way of using the yarn.

I have a 12 year old that loves colours-so I decided to aim at a cardican for her- with a very basic pattern repeated in different colours.

At the same time, I would like to make a statement. Thinking about Pussy Riot in prison for singing, Norwegian girl being put to prison because she was raped in Saudia Arabia - and they "played" the Sex without being married card to put the victim in prison. I would like my girl to be aware these incidents- and keep on fighting for fundamental human rights for girl worldwide. So I am mixing that into the cardigan.

Lets hope I do not run out of yarn...and that the garment fits

Bredbånd - finnished

I was able to finnish the Swaether "bredbånd" from Geilsk. I followed the pattern - and in the process it struck me- hmmm wonder if this is not to short for me....but then again _ let me follow the recipe.
I am a bit over average tall- and after finnishing this jacket - I will knit a new for me- this time writing down how much longer the arms needs to be- how many extra stripes from the waistband to the arms (4!) I need to knit for myself. Will order new yarn from Geilsk now.

Great jacket-great project - and I hope I have a daughter that will love the jacket.

Jacket for Sofie

Geilsk has so many fantastic creations. Livstykkejakken is a great jacket for my youngest daughter. Easy to use un top of a thin blouse or T-shirt - and nice enough to use over a dress.

Wool/cotton mix from Geilsk is just perfect. Not to warm- but warm enough.

Dachs Sweather for YR

In the summer 2012 I went to a knitting festival in Silkeborg. I knew I was going to be a grandmother later that year - so I looked for a cute project and some really good yarn.
I found both.

The result is a jacket with a dog stretching from front to front. And a pair of trousers made of the left-over yarn.

Folklore Jacket - Christel Seyfarth

When I visited the knitting festival at Fanø September 2011 - I bought yarn and recipe to knit a jacket. It took some time to get started - loads of small project that was easier got the priority. But when I finally started it was a fun project.
Now the jacket is finnished - and I have already used it a lot.

Jacket - for the spring

I was in London in September - and just came across some beautiful cotton/wool mix in nice colours.
So a tiny jacket for the spring.

Wrap-around the baby jacket

Small babys are not very fond of having clothes pulled over the head- so I used some left-over silk/wool yarn from Duo to knit this jacket. I found a pattern from Leine , I just changed it a tiny bit on the front part to make it more gender neutral.

Jacket to a tiny person

In Denmark this summer I bought some Japanese wool. Noro. I just had to make a jacket to a very small person in that lovely yarn. Yes - the jacket will fit for a very short time...but then may be it can be passed on to another baby? and another? It was anyway an easy and quick project. And I found some lovely buttons for the Jacket.

My folklore jacket from Christel Seyfarth

is in slow progress, but the project is progressing. It is just a bit too demanding to knit on while watching TV.... or chatting with people, and I am not much alone.

I like the colours, I like the feeling of the nice warm, wool. And, I am looking forward to finnish the project at some time. In the mean time - other projects are being worked on :-)

My Flower Power jacket

I did finnish my FlowerPower Jacket. The process consisted of lots and lots of work, and an idea of how lovely it would be when i was done. And when I finally was done with all the parts - It was far to big for me :-( It did not look nice at all.

I brougth the big jacket with me to Stavanger "Strikk og Drikk" at Cardinal Pub and asked the experienced knitting ladies at the pub for advise.
Felt it by hand and with lot of care - they said.

I was told how to do this, and I tried, and I worked the jacket between cold and warm soapy water...for a long time, but nothing happened with the jacket except getting heavier and heavier with water. At the end my arms were aching and both me, the floor and everything surrounding us was wet. And I was really frustrated.

I ended up felting it in the washing machine! First time at 40 degrees - but the jacket seemed to have been vaccinated against felting in the process. Then I did it again on 50 degrees Celsius....and then it was to small!

I stretched it as best I could when it was wet - and the result was OK. And this jacket is what I wore in Denmark on Fanø Knitting festival in September.

Flower power jacket

I am still working on my Christel Seyfarth Flower power jacket project. It takes some time.
There are appr. 20 different colours involved, and three basic patters. But it takes time to knit it all.

So here are the progress so far. Done with the main part of the jacket, and both arms.

Alpacca jacket

I spent my knitting time this summer on knitting an alpacca jacket I found on "Drops". In September, when I was finally done and attached to to sleeves to the fornta and the back and tried it on - it was to wide! The jacket I had put so much effort into was not for me. My mother was visisting at the time, and tried it on - no she has a nice warm alpacca jacket that fits her. I guess I have to do another in a smaller size.

Sofie's jacket is assembled.

I have now assembled the jacket. I decided too make an orange edge around the neck and in front to brighten it up more. The only thing lacking now is buttons, and that should be fairly easy.

Sisu yarn made it soft, light and warm. I guess that some gloves and a hat would be good accessories.

Jacket for Rigmor

My oldest daughter Rigmor found one jacket she would like, when I asked her if there were anything she would like me to knit for her. Pattern from Drops Design.
So now I have made the jacket - and I went shopping for some nice buttons for the jacket today. I finally found them at Bånsull in Stavanger.
