Gloves for Sofie

Almost a year ago I made some yellow socks for Sofie in a yellow glittering sock yarn.
I hoped that the leftover yarn would last for a pair of gloves. I did. With only 3 meters of yarn left.

She has grown up so quick. Her fingers are longer than mine, she is probably taller than me now.

I did not have a pattern for mittens at hand, so these are knitted to fit the drawings of a hand in the right size.

Sofie's Fister Løgsovs

For Sofie I knitted the Fister Løgsovs as a size 12 years, but longer. 12 years were wide enough to give this nice fit, and I liked the colours for my colourful youngest daughter.

Sofie and "Fister Løgsovs"

I am done with Sofie's new pullover. Looking good on her, and she liked the colour and the tweed it was made of. The pattern is from Geilsk and so is the yarn.

Since Sofie is a young woman I chose to use size 12 and just add extra length.

I liked the fact that the front pocket was knitted together with the rest, no sewing.
I liked that the sleeves are knitted from top and down, so with younger kids, they can be extended easily.

Rock mittens for Sofie

Sofie is growing so fast....and her hands are also growing. Longer finger = new mittens.
She is into music, rock mostly on the heavy side- so I found the pattern from Jorid Lindvik. Let's Rock to be a worthwhile knitting project.

Sofie was happy when she got them- but the size must be on the small side, they were actually barely fitting. I guess I have to make another one in slightly ticker yarn. I used Rauma Finull.

Same as my pink feminine socks- just with a yellow woollen yarn with some glitter.

A perfect gift for my colour loving daugther.

What does the fox say?

Lately Ylvis has had a weird song hitting home run. "Everybody" knows the song "What does the fox say?", it's gone viral. So is socks, mittens, hats with a fox theme.

When I saw this recipe, I knew that I needed to make one for Sofie.
I went to Garnkilden and bought a kit.

She used the hat, and then forgot it while visiting my parents.
Well, I guess I need to go to the post office and retreive it.
Wa pa pa pa pa pa pow!

Finnally it is finnished.

Sofie's new wistwarmers

Sofie is playong the flute in the schoolband. They have a dark blue uniform, and wear black shoes and socks. Playing the flute in the spring in the western part of Norway can be a cold and wet experience. So she has some wristwarmers in bright colours she has used for practice.

But the independence day, May 17th, the needed black or dark blue wristwarmers if any. So - please mum - knit some for me.

I have this easy and fun pattern from Denmark I have used before - so I used it again - this time in thicker, black wool.

Rauma wool.

And she was happy -and has used them.

Jacket for Sofie

Geilsk has so many fantastic creations. Livstykkejakken is a great jacket for my youngest daughter. Easy to use un top of a thin blouse or T-shirt - and nice enough to use over a dress.

Wool/cotton mix from Geilsk is just perfect. Not to warm- but warm enough.

"tubeskjerf" Moebius

I have knitted a red scarf for Sofie in Alpacca and mohair- nice and warm in the winter. And an identical to me in purple. It was a quick project - but I was not used to knit with such thick knitting needles. But you soon get used to it.

Easterbunny

I have knitted an easterbunny for Sofie. Arne 6Carlos has made a nice little book with a good way of creating the Easter bunny. First you knit one little foot, stuff it with wool, continue to knit the leg - stuff it. Repeat the process for foot number 2. You knit the back-tummy part until ti armpits. Then knit a hand - which you stuff. Knit the rest of the long arm. Repeat. Knit together with the "torso" - stuff- knit the neck and head. Stuff. Knit and crotchet the ears.

All done - very little work finnishing it - almost no sewing.

Knit a little sweather - and it is good to go as a present.

A little Valentine friendly Headband for Sofie

I used some really soft merino wool leftover yarn for this mini project. It is inspired by the cable-braided-necklace from this blog. I knitted the two strips, but added a piece of elastic band and made a headband for her. Red, almost heart shaped...perfect for Valentines day.

Sofie wants some new thick woolen socks!

We were out shopping for some new jeans for Sofie. She has really grown. On our way around the shopping center she found some yarn she liked, and asked me if I could knit her some new socks.

So I did.

This yarn was relatively thick, so I really had to adapt the pattern a bit. I kept the way of making the heel and toe, but made a "normal" rib on top of the socks.

Sofie´s woolen scarf

Sofie is always getting up early in the weekend. Well, not earlier that everyday, but she is normally up and about at 7 in the morning saturday and sundays. I m not. So normally I find her reading a book, playing with the computer or watching TV, and always a bit cold.

I knittet a scarf in some Sofie friendly colours, so now she stays warm in the mornings.

Sofie's knitted hoodie

We went to Denmark several times last year, due to the building of our cottage. At one of the trips I took a friend with me to Silkeborg to do some shopping of Danish knitting designs and yarns. I ended up with a huge knitting project called the Flower Power jacket (still working on it - it will be posted when it is done!) designed by Christel Seyfarth.

And I bought some nice, soft, lambs wool and a easy knitting design from designclub.dk.
That lovely red yarn is now turned into Sofie's new red hoodie. It is rib and stockinette in a nice combination. It took some hours, but was worth the effort when I see that she likes it. She has practically lived in it since it was done.

Knitted gloves in thin woolen multicoloured yarn

Last Time I was in London I stopped by I Knit london to buy some knitting equipment, and I noticed this Purple, red, orange yarn in wool. Zauberball. I just knew I needed some of that yarn. So far I have made two set of gloves with the yarn. The dark set is sized for Sofie (surprise, surprise the young lady lost several knitted items at school). The lighter pair is for a niece.

Double knitted scarf for Sofie

I have wanted to learn double knitting for a long time. It seemed like a useful technique, but I did not crack the code on my own. You tube is a great thing, the show you how to....

And it was actually easy!

As a tassel she wanted a Michaelmas Daisy. That was not to hard. Flower number 47 in the book.

The Bumble bee were not to difficult either, but I felt my fingers were a bit to large for the job. But she was happy with it.

The Meconopsis were picked because now I could see that I could manage without beeing glued to the computer in order to make it.

This is a failed periwincle. (It doesn't know, and neither does Sofie!) But it looks like a flower at least. May be it exist in the floral world to?

After this little project failure I needed something very simple to gain some confidence again. And I looked for something were the diagram made sence.

So I wanted to make the Forget -me-not, but I did not want to mix blue inte the already colourful mix for the hat. So I made a not correctly coloured forget-me-not. That helped. The courage needed to try the challenge was there.

And then I went for the flower Sofie really really wanted.

So here it is.

An Auricula. Recognisable and everything.

It is in the middle of the winter olympics, so yesterday evening I was watching womens speed skating to cheer for the Norwegian ladies, and particularly Maren Haugli. (I think she became number 5 in the end.) It is not so much to watch, round and round. So I decided to be brave and try the butterfly as well. So this is my version of Orange tip butterfly.

I used a yarn that is called Silja, and it has a lot of nice colours yo choose from, and was easy to crochet with.

Sofie hat - new version

This hat seems to be very popular. It is so easy to knit. Purl 2, knit two for a rib. Then knit two stiches together, and continue with purl 2 knit two and you get this diagonal pattern.

Sofie is very found of flowers, butterflies and everything remotely connected with summer. So when this hat was done, with only one colour, she decided that to like it, it needed some decorations.

Since I bought the book 100 flowers to knit and crochet, I have just flipped through it and decided it woyuld be a nice gift for someone better at crocheting than me. But Sofie flipped through it and begged me to make some flowers, a bumble bee and a buttefly. I love YouTube, there are lessons in doing different crocheting stitches there. So I managed. I also made a red hat for Marte, same pattern, no flowers. And a black one for me. The trick is to use smaller knitting needles for the rib, the switch to large knitting needles. (I started with 4, and ended with 7 mm).

Hat for Sofie

Sofie needed a new hat, nice and warm for when the other nice, warm feltet hat my mother in law gave her, was wet. I bought some red, pink and white nice warm alpakka and made her a hat. The day after it was gone, dissapeared at school. So i Then did the same thing again. This time with some pure wool Eskimo from Drops. The hat was just a bit to big, and kept sliding around her head and falling off. So I planned to felt it just a little bit. Well, 40 degrees was to much, and it came out probably best fitting a baby. Sofie was not happy at all, so I promised to start all over again on a new hat, this time in new wool, no felting.
