Blue scarf

I have started to use a knitting machine at Svithun Husflidslag. With punchcard. So here is the first scarf I made after having attended a course there.

Rundkjørsel (Round-about)

I have not knitted much brioche, and never two-coloured.
So then a nice, but not too big project was a good start. From Geilsk I had the tweed I needed, and I found a free recipe that was just perfect.

A small scarf

I need some small projects while travelling. Easy travelling knitting that do not take up to much space in the bag, or while working on them. I had noticed Geilsk Bølgelengde, and blue would be a nice colour.

Looking at the number of stitches (179) I figured out that I would like to add length, and added the extra 12 stitches.  Easy pattern, nice warm woolen yarn, (Geilk Tynn ull)- and I have actually used it.

Dreambird

I found a great pattern at Ravelry - called Dreambird
I choose to knit it in Drops Lace yarn (Alpacca and silk) combined with Viking Nordlys.
It was a fun pattern to knit, and Nordlys gave colours I liked.

Now the big question is: how and when to wear it :-)

scarf made for one daughter, used by another :-)

 

After knitting Jomruhummer in Geilsk Wool and Hemp, I had some leftover yarn. I decided to use this as a scarf for the youngest daughter. She has this red-and-very-orange double knitted scarf she loves, and I thoungt one scarf in more calm colours could be nice. But no thank you- I like my own scarf.

 

 

My oldest daugther liked the scarf, so at least it is in use, and I got to use up some leftover yarn.

Scarf for the old man

Olav finally got around to buying a nice woollen "coat" to use over his suit. Then he found a scarf in the same shop. "Woollen scarf" said the sign. Inside the label said Wool 30%, Mohair 10%, Polyamid 60%.
THAT IS NOT A WOOLLEN SCARF! this is a polyamid scarf with some wool fibres!@
It does not keep you warm in -10 degrees celcius.

So we started the hunt for a woollen scarf. We found none! Max 60% wool. Where are the customers? Are they sleeping while shopping! don´t they want to keep warm- or are they just caring for the tiny brand stuck onto the product?

Well - end of story - we bought Yarn in Garnoasen in Silkeborg - and I Knitted a scarf for my man. In his chosen colours.

"tubeskjerf" Moebius

I have knitted a red scarf for Sofie in Alpacca and mohair- nice and warm in the winter. And an identical to me in purple. It was a quick project - but I was not used to knit with such thick knitting needles. But you soon get used to it.

Japanese yarn bought from "Tante Grønn" in Denmark

Another result of the knitting festival is a "scarf" in silk/iron quality from Japan. I knitted it as told by the recipe, and you can bend, fold, strech it, so it shapes as you would like it to.
It was a bit like knitting with thread for a sewing machine...and I am not sure that I will ever use the resulting scarf, since I am not very good at "decorating" outfits.

Time will show.

Warm twirly alpakka scarf

I used three different colours of blue to make the scarf. Dark blue, medium blue and light blue. The scarf is very easy to make. The way I made is was identical to the recipe from Drops Design - with only one easy alteration.

I kept the first part of the recipe, done in the darkest colour. Then I added a second row in the medium blue colour where I did as follows:

" Crochet 1 tr in the 4th ch from hook, then 1tr in each ch until the end of row, turn the piece and change to the third colour." Then I did what is explained as the second row as the third rom, in the lightest colour.

I chose a nice warm alpakke quality for the yarn.

Sofie's scarf

Sofie loves all kinds of accessories, including scarfs. So she wanted med to make her one from some multicoloured yarn she had.

And as seen on the photo - she is happy with the result.
