Machin knitted mittens

I am just not able to get as good results on the knitting machine as with hand knitting.

This time I tried to follow the recipe in a machine knitting book.
Pair number 1 to short for the recipient, but luckily found an owner with shorter fingers than Sofie.

The other pair - clearly! I had to make just that cm to long.
But Sofie liked the colour and the pattern. And have been using them.

Machine knitting socks

At Svithun husflidslag I have access to knitting machine. But I havent completely gotten comfortable using them, I still prefer the slower hand knitting process.

But - I was able to make a pair of socks in thin sock wool from Regia to my oldest daughter.

And them wanting to make a pair of male socks...I made them too big. Now looking for the male in the family with really big feet. Found him- so these will be added to his birthday gift. Sisu form Sandnes.

And for a friend of mine who don't knit for her birthday (And that was in January...) I have been neglecting this completely.

Red dress for Yr

I was planning to knit a dress to Yr from Nøstebarn's pattern. But I was not a fan of the open back solution to an active little girl.

I wanted to use some of the New Zealand fine merino wool bought in November - StrikkehelgStavanger.

And I wanted to force myself to use the knitting machine - and calculate the size/and rewrite the pattern for my own benefit.

1) The dress curled! Where I did not want it to curl. And yes, it kept curling after wash ;-(

SO- I picked up the stiches at the bottom and knitted 5 cm in a simple hole pattern. No more curling.

2) The dress did not have pockets! Grandma's little friend told me that she needed pocket. One pockets added.

 3) Chose to have the garter stich side facing outwards.

wrist warmers - another left-over yarn project

I had one ball of soft yarn left over from knitting a hat. I decided to experiment a bit with tuck stitches. And I made a pair of wristwarmers, knitting the thumb part on by hand afterwards. The hard part was to decide which side was reverse....

scarf made for one daughter, used by another :-)

 

After knitting Jomruhummer in Geilsk Wool and Hemp, I had some leftover yarn. I decided to use this as a scarf for the youngest daughter. She has this red-and-very-orange double knitted scarf she loves, and I thoungt one scarf in more calm colours could be nice. But no thank you- I like my own scarf.

 

 

My oldest daugther liked the scarf, so at least it is in use, and I got to use up some leftover yarn.
