Brigth Yellow hat

My young granddaughter is not very big for her age. And I often end up knitting a slighjtly smaller size than the recipe for the garment to fit.

This time, I did not use a recipe- just measured around her head, counted the stitches and made a hat.
Filcolana Arwetta Classic.

And I made a little neck piece for her as well.

She came visiting, and tried it on. The neck piece were way to short.
The hat seemed to fit- but kept working it's way op her head.

We agreed that I shoukld make her a new one, Pink.
And we could save this for Lillebror when he would be big enough to use it.

At least he will be easy to keep track of.

Titt-tei lue - Peek-a-boo-hatt

Yr and I where flipping through the book: "Strikkesidas favoritter" and she found a picture ofthe peek-a-boo hats. And she wanted a pink one.
We went to the yarn store and she picked the colour she wanted.

Angry bird hat for Yr

It is summer temperatures here now, and we have had one week of 20+ degrees :-)
This means that woolen hats are to warm to wear in preschool and kindergarten. But even if it is summer, we know that temperatures will drop to 12 degrees and some days we will have strong winds. So a summerhat for the little ones are a nice thing to have.
First I knitted a traditional little Helmet kind of hat.
Debbie Bliss Wool/cotton mix.
Pattern from Hjertegarn

But it was oh so boring.

So I was wondering to turn it into an owl hat, and made a beak. Made some eyes.
But it still was not to my liking.

I added eyebrows. So now it is a kind of Angry Bird hat.

I hope it fits the young lady's head and that she likes it.

Workshop at the pub

Stavanger Strikk og Drikk (Stavanger knit and drink) are meeting once a month in the best pub in Stavanger- The Cardinal.

We wanted to invite the Danish Knit Designer Lene Holme Samsøe for a visit and a workshop. Sunday, March 16th from 17:00 - 20:00 we had our first workshop at Cardinal. It went well.

Topic: Use of Leaf patterns to shape your knitting.

Sandnes Garn were kind enough to sponsor the yarn needed for a hat for each participant. So the result after the workshop: a brand new hat.

Tassels for Marte's hat

When out shopping I found this nice white mock fur tassel- I liked the idea of putting this on Martes hat. At the same time-have the chance to remove it.  So I removed the tassel I had made, and made two new, as well as the fake fur. I added a pushbutton to the hat, and to the three tassels. I thought this was a good idea- time will show which one she will wear.

Boyfriend hat

For Marte's boyfriend I made a green hat. Same soft wool as Marte's hat. Debbie Bliss Rialto DK. Supersoft and 100% wool. I tried to make it a bit masculin - as well as reversible.
I had to borrow the son-in-law Nelson, to make sure the hat fitted a mans head. ready to go along with the rest of the Christmas gift.

Hat with bubbles

It seems like they have all gone "bubbly" - There are bubbles on hats, sweathers and blankets. After a while it becomes contagious. I just had to make a bubble-hat. Debbie Bliss Rialto DK. Supersoft and 100% wool.
Christmas gift for someone- so no name mentioned.

Another woollen hat for Yr

After a jacket project (still waiting for buttons) I had som leftover yarn.
What better to do than make a tiny hat for Yr- I knitted size 9-12 month since she is not that big for her age.

What does the fox say?

Lately Ylvis has had a weird song hitting home run. "Everybody" knows the song "What does the fox say?", it's gone viral. So is socks, mittens, hats with a fox theme.

When I saw this recipe, I knew that I needed to make one for Sofie.
I went to Garnkilden and bought a kit.
She used the hat, and then forgot it while visiting my parents.
Well, I guess I need to go to the post office and retreive it.
Wa pa pa pa pa pa pow!

Little red riding hood

Winter is approaching. So far the fall has been more "summer" than most summers here on the west coast. But soon the cold weather will strike.
I am so lucky to have a beautiful little grand daugther, Yr. And I keep knitting woolly things for her. In soft Merino wool, absolutely not scratchy, I made this "Pixie hat". When they are so young (<1year and="" do="" drop="" gloves="" ground.="" hats="" it="" on="" or="" p="" remove="" the="" their="" they="" whatever="">
This model ensures a good fit. It covers ears and neck. And it is harder to remove for the little hands, but easy for parents to put on the child. I was planning to knit a grey one, but when I saw this nice red colour- I could not resist a little red riding hood hat. Recipe from Hjertegarn.

Hat in "virgin merino wool"

WHen I was done with the retro sweather for Yr - I did what I was determined not to do - I went to Silkeborg and visited Garn Oasen and ended up with some delicious yarn. Soft, wool - nice red colour. I had just lost a hat -forgot it on the ferry :-(

SO then I just started out knitting a hat.
For my self.

No recipe.

Trial and error.

Hat and socks from Nøstebarn,

I remember when Sofie was little - sometimes when she could not sleep a hat helped. I do not know why - It could be the air conditioning (we lived in Texas back then).

But I have knitted another thin little hat in wool/silk blend from Duo - and followed a recipe from Nøstebarn on rib hat for babies.

Geilsk babyhat

I had some of that soft duo silk/wool mix left. In the description on how to make the babyhat it states that you only need 15 grams. So I made the hat. A fun and quick little project.

Recipe (in Danish) available for free on Geilsk web page.

I liked the way the hat ended in a cute little top, and the way it forms itself.

babyhat

I have knitted a small traditional hat for my coming grandchild. Nice to keep the little head warm. Wool/silk mix again. Real soft.

Sofie hat - new version

This hat seems to be very popular. It is so easy to knit. Purl 2, knit two for a rib. Then knit two stiches together, and continue with purl 2 knit two and you get this diagonal pattern.

Sofie is very found of flowers, butterflies and everything remotely connected with summer. So when this hat was done, with only one colour, she decided that to like it, it needed some decorations.

Since I bought the book 100 flowers to knit and crochet, I have just flipped through it and decided it woyuld be a nice gift for someone better at crocheting than me. But Sofie flipped through it and begged me to make some flowers, a bumble bee and a buttefly. I love YouTube, there are lessons in doing different crocheting stitches there. So I managed. I also made a red hat for Marte, same pattern, no flowers. And a black one for me. The trick is to use smaller knitting needles for the rib, the switch to large knitting needles. (I started with 4, and ended with 7 mm).
